Bogo helps you learn Korean. To do that it keeps the words you save and how your practice goes. This page explains what we keep, why, and how to take it with you or delete it.
Last updated 30 October 2026

The short version
- We keep what the app needs to work: your saved words, practice and settings.
- No ads. We don't sell your data or track you across other apps and websites.
- No AI reads your data. Word explanations are written in advance from the clips.
- Apple handles payments. We never see your card.
- You can export your words and delete your account from inside the app at any time.
Who we are
Bogo is made by Shagun Chandra, an independent developer in India ("Bogo", "we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal data described here. Questions or requests: support@bogolang.com.
What we collect
When you start
Every install gets a random guest ID, so you can use Bogo before signing up. If you create an account we also keep your email address and, if you give it, your first name. Your password is stored only as a secure hash. With Sign in with Apple or Google we receive an identifier from them and, if you allow it, your name and email (Apple may give us a private relay address instead).
Your learning
- Onboarding answers: your Korean level, why you're learning, your goal and study time.
- Words you save, notes you add, and the sentence each word came from.
- Practice answers (right or wrong, and when), daily study time, streaks and badges.
- Clips you save and watch history, your settings, avatar and time zone.
When you contact us
Messages you send from the app, with the topic you pick and basic device details (phone model, iOS and app version) so we can reproduce problems. Clip reports, with the reason you choose. Emails you send us.
Subscriptions
Apple processes every payment. Through RevenueCat we learn whether you have an active subscription, which plan, when it renews or ends, and events such as a trial starting or a renewal. We don't receive your payment details.
Diagnostics
Crash reports and simple usage events (for example "finished a clip" or "started practice") linked only to a random ID, never to your name or email. We use them to fix bugs and see which features help.
Kept on your phone only
Study reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. Word pronunciation uses your iPhone's built-in voice. Neither sends anything to us.
YouTube clips
Clips play in YouTube's embedded player, and Bogo uses YouTube API Services. When a clip plays, YouTube and Google may collect information under the Google Privacy Policy, and your viewing is covered by the YouTube Terms of Service. Bogo never connects to your YouTube or Google account to read your data.
How we use it
- To run the app: show your words, pick what to practise, keep your streak.
- To sync your data so it survives a reinstall or a new phone.
- To check your subscription and unlock the app.
- To answer your messages and act on clip reports.
- To fix crashes and improve Bogo.
- To email you sign-in codes. We don't send marketing emails.

Your choices
- Export your words: Profile, Settings, Export vocabulary. You get a spreadsheet you can open anywhere, including Anki.
- Delete your account: Profile, Settings, Delete account. Your account and everything tied to it are deleted from our servers straight away. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an Apple subscription; cancel that in your iPhone's Settings.
- Reminders: turn them off in Bogo's Settings or in iOS Settings.
- Anything else: email us to see, correct or delete your data, or to object to how we use it. We reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may also complain to your data protection authority.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Each person can only read their own rows in our database, your sign-in is kept in the iOS Keychain, and subscription status can only be written by our server.
Children
Bogo is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app for anything important. See also our Terms of Service.
